We’re a small team, with a big mission: to craft the absolute best pale ales on the east coast. That’s why we are manically focused on brewing this one style of beer. No nonsense, no pretense, no silly names – we simply strive to make great beer for people that love great beer.
An idea forms.
Fate, and beer, bring our Founders to the table. Bronx residents, Steve and Niall, meet up with beer guys Chris and Damian, and creative director Kirk to start the team and bring brewing back to the Bronx.
Good-bye jobs, hello poverty (and beer)!
The team quits their day-jobs and pushes full-steam on the brewery.
Pilot batches of our flagship Bronx Pale Ale begin.
There ends up being 11 batches, totaling over 100 hours of brewing time.
A used Red Bull truck is the perfect fit for delivering kegs in the city.
We incur some minor traffic infractions.
Chris hits a few things testing out the new truck (including a school bus and a parking lot exit somehow). Thankfully no one is injured.
Cottrell brewing partnership.
We partner with Cottrell Brewing Co. in Pawcatuck, CT, buying and installing our own fermentation tanks at their brewery. We’ll cook in their kitchen for the next 3 years!
Bronx Pale Ale Production Starts.
We brew the first production batch of the Bronx Pale Ale at our partner, Cottrell Brewing.
Official launch in the Bronx.
We hit the Bronx and Manhattan with our first brew. The Bronx Alehouse sells our first beer.
Batch 7 falls just shy of our quality standards. We make the hard decision to dump the beer instead of putting anything subpar in the market. Ouch!
A Cold winter.
Damian and Chris brave the first NYC winter delivering kegs.
More Tank Space Arrives.
Demand for Bronx grows. We buy another (bigger) fermentation vessel to install at our partner, Cottrell Brewing.
Union Beer Distributors Partnership.
We partner with Union Beer Distributors in Brooklyn NY to deliver our beer. Yay – our backs can recover!
Our first seasonal beer is a hit.
The Bronx Rye PA hits the city. Learn more.
We share the love and expand to all of New York City and to Westchester County.
Bronx Black PA Hits NYC for Winter.
We brew our next seasonal – and a team favorite – the Bronx Black PA. Learn more.
After an exhaustive search, we partner up with City Brewing to help meet growing demand for our beer. These guys are amazing brewers, making beer out of a state-of-the-art brewhouse in the renovated Heilemann Brewery.
Bronx Belgian PA Comes in for Spring.
Seasonal brew number three – Bronx Belgian PA – is introduced. Learn more.
Port Morris Move.
We move into what will be the future home of The Bronx Brewery in Port Morris. We'll spend the next 18 months converting this old iron company building into a brewery.
We launch our Bronx Pale Ale in cans throughout NYC and the surrounding counties.
We Buy Our Own Equipment.
We order custom-built brewing and cellar equipment from brewing experts DME. The whole Bronx team makes a trip to Prince Edward Island, Canada to check it out in person.
Bronx Summer PA Arrives.
Our fourth seasonal – Bronx Summer PA – rounds out the portfolio. Learn more.
Our massive demolition project begins in the South Bronx. Decades of dirt are scraped away, a second floor is removed, and office is ripped apart to prepare the building to be transformed into a brewery.
After months of demo and clean up, the first step is a new brewery floor.
Equipment is here!
The equipment arrives from Canada. The installation goes smoothly, except for a brief trip to the ER when Chris was crushed by a tank. (He's still alive.)
Autumn Pale Ale.
Our new fall seasonal, Autumn Pale Ale, brewed with freshly-pressed New York State apple juice from Soons Orchard, debuts. And it goes quick!
Commissioning the Brewhouse.
After a painfully long wait for the final pieces of construction to come together, we commission the brewhouse and brew the first batch – our Rye Pale Ale.
A New Lineup.
Rye PA, Belgian PA, and our brand new Session IPA become year-round beers.
